About the Quake Summit

Now in it’s third year, the 2024 Central U.S. Earthquake Summit will bring together the insurance industry, regulators, government officials, and emergency management professionals to forge new ideas to improve earthquake insurance coverage in at-risk communities within the central United States.

When & where is the summit?

How much does it cost?

There is NO COST to attend the event, which is graciously being supported by the National Association of Insurance Commissioners. Because space is limited, pre-registration is required. What’s at stake?

Experts say that the New Madrid Seismic Zone (NMSZ), the largest active zone in the U.S. east of the Rocky Mountains, is at risk for a major earthquake. However, earthquake insurance coverage in the highest risk areas of the NMSZ has dropped dramatically in recent years, widening the gap between the insured and the uninsured. This leaves states and communities with a significant challenge as they look at planning for a successful recovery following an event in which the economic losses are expected to reach well over $100 billion.

Why should I attend?

The purpose of this FREE summit is to provide attendees an opportunity to learn about earthquake hazards and issues surrounding earthquake insurance, and to develop strategies to address those issues. By attending the 2024 Earthquake Summit, attendees will have an opportunity to learn:

  • ways states are communicating earthquake risk and insurance awareness to at-risk communities.
  • insurance agent perspectives on earthquake risk and insurance.
